Download KBA Game StatisticsSheet for
your team statistician to record your player and team statistics.Collecting statistics can be an excellent
mechanism to provide incentives for your players and parents. This is a good way to secure parents
involvement and sharing in the ownership of having a successful AAU experience. Some recommendations when keeping statistics
for your team and some other tools include:
1.Form a reliable “stat team” to collect your team
statistics.Identify a lead parent to
take ownership of forming the support to collect consistent and reliable set of
statistics for your team.
·Split the recording
of statistics between two people per game. Collecting the full range of
statistics by one person will be difficult and will most likely not be as
accurate.The collection of statistics
should not be a burden to any single parent and splitting the responsibility is
recommend.
·Player siblings
can be a resource to support but make sure they do it right.
·Keep the player
order the same all year long, note the column arrangement is in a consistent
order to the KBA Game Statistics form. This will enable easier data entry.
·Data entry for
tournament results can also be done by responsible players that enjoy using the
computer. Make sure you have backups along the way just incase the spreadsheet
gets messed up.
·Keep up with your
tournament results and by the end of the year you will have player and team
statistics for entire AAU season.
·The KBA Team
Recording Spreadsheet has a series of formulas and sheet links to make the task
easier. Some excel experience is recommend but not 100% necessary as this can
be quickly learned. If you need support, please email Kim El-Tawil ket@gxt.com.
3.Keeping accurate statistics will enable setting
individual and team goals on a tournament by tournament basis.
·If you have
younger players/teams you can provide an award system for meeting coaches goals
that can be established ahead for a given tournament.Dairy Queen Sunday Coins work great for our
young players.
·For the highly
competitive teams you can set season ending award system. Plaques and
basketball wards etc...
·Make sure the
award system does not go against team goals. Look towards measurements criteria
based on effort level vs. individual statistics.
·Within the KBA
recording Spreadsheet there will be a tracking of effort level. You can set
your criteria if you wish or not use it (It is up to you). An example is provided
based on rebounds, steals, tie balls and blocked shots.
Should you detect any
errors/flaws in the use of these tools and or have suggestions for
improvements, please email your comments to Kim El-Tawil ket@gxt.com.
